A Special Prayer for the Eternal Peace of Stephen Ryan Ivens
Our merciful Father in heaven, You, who created man in Your image, have given him free will only to be displeasured by his disobedience which then seperated him from your perfect love, did send Your most beloved Son, Jesus, by his death on the cross, to save all of humanity from eternal damnation, we humbly ask you tonight to behold a soul who desperately sought you in the last moments of his life.
Dear Lord, although our hearts are broken by the sad reality of Steve’s passing, we pray that Your mercy may shine upon him as he seeks his place in Your bosom for the peace and repose which eluded him on earth.
Because Your love is eternal, we believe that you have made ready the dwelling place you promised your disciples when You said, “In my Father’s house, there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.”
Lord, we pray that you now take Steve to that dwelling place specially meant for his tired soul. Give him rest. Give him peace. Give him the serenity of sleep that he desperately prayed for during the last few months of his life.
Forgive his transgressions because his life was mostly led in meekness, honor, kindness, service, simplicity, honesty, gentleness, and gratitude.
Here is a soul, Lord, Steve’s soul, yearning to be with you forever, ready to sing Your praises with your angels and saints and wanting to be where You are forever.
We humbly offer the soul of Stephen Ryan Ivens to you, Lord, because we trust in Your mercy forever and ever. Amen.
