There were 18 people who joined us to Let’s Bring Steve Home Community Search Party this morning. These are family, friends & other people who just cared enough to make time for us to find Steve. The Sierra Madre Search & Rescue teams had their own system & we didn’t want to interfere with what they’re doing. Uncle Jim told me that the SMSR had 15 people who are doing this as a training exercise. I’m just grateful for the time they contributed to the search efforts in finding Steve.
Let’s Bring Steve Home Community Search volunteers were divided into 8 groups. 5 groups went to the trails & 3 groups went to post fliers & asked bus drivers if they recognize Steve along the bus stops around the city of Burbank, Glendale, San Fernando, Sunland, Montrose, Pasadena, etc.
Uncle Jim & I took the Grotto trail & we have to go back to the trailhead just to do an interview with NBC-LA. We went back to the trail & hiked for about 3 more hours roundtrip. We didn’t make it to the summit but we found a couple of small clearings off the trail that is a possible place to rest for anyone who is hiking in this particular trail. All the groups kept in touch with us & let us know any observations that they made. There were a few notable observation & one of the item found, Sierra Madre Search & Rescue Team took care of it. Nothing is confirmed yet. But the bottom line, we didn’t find him. There were possible clues that he could have been in any of the trails but it’s UNCONFIRMED. I have to stress this to anyone that we’re not in anyway trying to interfere with any of the law enforcement agencies trying to find Steve or investigating this case. I’m about to write to Brian Gordon, the lead detective tomorrow & let him know anything that’s notable in this search activity.
Considering that this is such a short notice, we did have a good turn out. Thank you so much to the Sierra Madre Search & Rescue teams, to the Let’s Bring Steve Home Community Search Volunteers: Mindie & Kiana Bohrer, Luis Hernandez & Maria Aviles, Mike & Jonathan Granewich, Theresa Aguilar & Peter Canay, Tony Pineda & Candy, Monica & Tor Rolf Johansen, Steve Lewis & Christine Gruenberg, Willie Wu, Tracee Perrin, & Brian Stranahan, Tony Crocker, & Aidess Domagas for water & snacks. My mom & my cousin Karen hold the fort at the McCambridge Park for any additional people who were interested in joining us.
Even if it’s disappointing that we didn’t find any confirmed clues about Steve, I’m more than ever determined to move forward with this search. Maybe some people had given up but not me. And I’m eternally grateful to those who believe in us enough to join me & my family in this goal.
We’re moving forward to do the Let’s Bring Steve Home Community Search Party on June 23, Saturday 7AM-5PM. So far, 18 people had already confirmed. We’re hoping that the Sierra Madre Search & Rescue teams would join us again. Also, I’ll be reaching out to California Emergency Mobile Patrol to join us. If you have any direct contact to C.E.M.P., please let me know.
